Questions from grown-ups, answered.
The practical details about custom lists, devices, profiles, privacy, activities and what Kiwi Spell is designed to do.
Can I add my child’s school spelling words?
Yes. A grown-up creates a tailored list of up to ten words, so practice follows the list sent home by school.
Does Kiwi Spell work on iPhone and iPad?
Yes. Kiwi Spell is designed for iPhone and iPad running iOS or iPadOS 17.0 or later. Finger tracing works on both; Apple Pencil can be used on compatible iPads.
Is Kiwi Spell free?
Yes. Version 1.0 is listed as free on the App Store.
Does the app collect children’s data?
The App Store privacy label states that the developer does not collect data. Profiles and weekly words are designed to stay on the device.
What ages is Kiwi Spell designed for?
The App Store identifies children aged 6–8 as the intended age range. Suitability still depends on the individual child and the words selected by the grown-up.
How many words can I add?
A grown-up can add a tailored list of up to ten different words at a time.
Can more than one child use it?
Yes. Kiwi Spell supports separate profiles so siblings or learners sharing a device can keep their own words and progress.
What spelling activities are included?
Word Outlines, Match It, Word Detective, Word Parts, Finger & Pencil Trace, and See, Say, Spell.
Is Jungle Run the spelling activity?
No. Jungle Run is a separate, earned 60-second arcade break. The child unlocks it by completing practice.
Does it replace school teaching?
No. Kiwi Spell is a home-practice companion for custom word lists, not a complete curriculum, diagnostic assessment or replacement for a teacher.
Can my child use Apple Pencil?
Yes, on a compatible iPad. Finger input also works, and Apple Pencil is sold separately.
Does it work offline?
The core app is designed around on-device profiles and activities. Check the current App Store listing for the latest compatibility and feature information.
